Sunday's Meet & Greet day (with Pics)
6 team members turned up for the inaugural Acers touch team footy training. Below are the team members (I hope I’ve got the correct spelling).
Michael
Vanessa
Sean
Kate
Arnold
Tyler
Luke (Michael's son – who helped out a lot. On-ya Lukes)
As Fawkner Park is reasonably large, a few people got a little lost at first. Well Kate did :) apparently the distress call to Mik which went something like “umm, aaah … I think I'm lost?” was one to save for the after season playback.
Well after the brief intros we did a couple of laps around the oval passing the ball, then up and down the field as well.
We then went through some of the basic rules and practiced passing in a circle. After that We practiced the all important skill of ‘rucking’ the ball up (ie. taking the touch and pushing forward, concentrating on quick smooth transitions). If done properly rucking can gain an attacking team a lot of ground for comparatively little effort, which is key to outlasting your opponent and winning in the second half. We then finished off with a 3 a side scratch match.
Thanks again to all those that turned up and paid their registration fees. Mik says we should have enough to place our team deposit and register as the Acers. Unfortunately we didn't go to The Max Hotel for a drink as some had other commitments but we'll try and go there next training session just so team members can get to know each other better and enjoy the rest of the day.
As promised, below is a picture slide show of the team members that participated on the day. Well done everyone.
Enjoy.

Looks like some companies (ie. Ace Insurance) are filtering out the picture slideshow I’ve made.
Either it’s filtering out the website that’s hosting my pics or the running of embedded flash is disabled on their browsers. Embedded Flash is what’s nearly always used to display advertisements and banner ads and is almost always never required for anything else so many companies disable this feature.
If possible you can try to change the security settings on your browser or install another browser like FireFox or Opera but you must have access to install on your C: drive. Another alternative is to view it outside of work.
