Albert Park Touch has received the following advice from Parks Victoria concerning the impact of Stage 3 water restrictions that will come into effect on 1 January 2007.

“Under stage 3 water restrictions Parks Victoria has further reduced capacity to adequately water sports grounds within Albert Park Reserve. This means that Parks Victoria will not permit pre season training or practice matches until further notice. Whilst Parks Victoria acknowledges the importance of preseason training for clubs, it is imperative that the wear and tear on sports grounds is minimised so that they are maintained in the best possible condition for the upcoming 2007 winter season.

Parks Victoria has stopped all casual hire of sporting fields and new events and will be asking anyone without permission to use the fields to move on. Continued unauthorised use of the fields may result in your ground not being available during the winter season. Parks Victoria will be monitoring all use of the fields during this period.

It is very important that you pass this information on to your coaches and members to ensure that they comply with this request. Parks Victoria encourages your club to use alternative fitness training methods during this difficult period (i.e. lake running trail, rowing clubs, the beach, use of MSAC or Albert Park Indoor Sports Halls etc). Parks Victoria trusts that you understand the need to comply with restrictions and thanks you for your cooperation during the period that they are in force.”

Touch Victoria and Albert Park Touch would like to reiterate that no out of competition use of the touch fields will be permitted by Parks Victoria, and any disregard of these conditions will most certainly impact the remainder of the current season and highly likely the next. All team contacts should ensure compliance of these conditions by their teams.
