Subject: Directive from Parks to finish competition at Albert Park by Thursday 1st February
Importance: High

To all team contacts

Albert Park Touch has received the following advice from Parks Victoria to finish competition by Thursday 1st February, please read extract below taken from attachment letter sent by Parks.

Parks Victoria has reluctantly requested that your activities be reduced due to the ongoing drought conditions and implementation of Stage 3 water restrictions. Parks Victoria has also indicated to winter competition clubs that pre season training will not be available. Cricket continues to be played on some grounds.

Parks Victoria requests that the Albert Park Touch Competition rearrange its schedules so that the Summer competition can finish by Thursday 1 February 2007.

Given the potential for very drying conditions over the next few months, Parks Victoria is endeavouring to maintain as many grounds as possible in a viable condition so that when autumn rains come, the fields are able to respond and be available for winter competition.

Due to Parks Victoria directive to finish competition by Thursday 1st February the finals series will now be Monday 22nd January to Thursday 25th January and grand finals from Monday 29th January to Thursday 1st February. Therefore the last round of competition will be Monday 15th January to Thursday 18th January.

We are investigating a recognition process where by discounted team fees may be offered to teams participating in the current Albert Park Summer 2006/7 competition that will return over the next 12 months (i.e. registering in the Winter 2007 or Summer 2007/08 season, teams would be required to contact Albert Park Touch to utilize this discount during the registration process). Albert Park Touch trust all teams understand the situation is out of our control, and that this recognition process is a reward for your ongoing participation in the Albert Park Touch Competition.

Albert Park Touch can confirm that presentation of Grand Final Medallions and MVP awards will be conducted 15 minutes after each Grand Final game which will be in the old RSL Building next to Albert Park playing fields. Nibblies will be supplied on the night however there will be no bar facility therefore BYO drinks including alcohol.
