ACERS Winter 2007 Premiers Mixed C Albert Park

Although our team blog has not been updated much this season (ok not at all !) at least the very last entry this Winter Season is a good one.

ACERS in it’s second season has become the Mixed C Grade Champions with an astonishing record of 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 bye for a total of 34 points and finishing the regular season undefeated!!.

The second place getters Consort fitness were worthy runners up and had the best average (Try’s scored compared to Try’s conceded.)

At the time of this posting Consort Fitness’ usual swagger in writing up their Touch Teams exploits have been surprisingly missing. Here’s a link to their website which hopefully in time will mention the great Final that was played out.

http://www.consortfitness.com.au/sports-events.php

Below is a team pic and finals words from team captain/organiser Mike.

If would like to post a comment, click on the comments link on the bottom of this post, or if you would like to submit any pictures you took during the regular season, see the Team Contacts section in the sidebar and click on one of the links.

Finally let me say what a great season the ACERS had and Congratulations to everyone involved.

Regards,
Arnold Bathan

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick one to congratulate you all on last nights result.

Another fantastic effort in defence when under pressure on our own line in the second half was what I thought was the highlight of our win, together with some great yards in attack to get us out of trouble.

This was highlighted by the girls in the second half. They also put us into some great field position for our winning try in extra time.

A great effort guys. Thanks to everyone for a very committed season. Our never say die attitude when our backs were to the wall a few times throughout the season was inspirational and worthy of our premiership medal.

Savour the moment guys because they are not easy to come by in sport.

Also, just a quick mention to our first time players. Your development and commitment to the team has been outstanding. Never once did I see you guys even think about throwing in the towel or quitting, it was always "how do I improve" ? Well done to you all and I hope this season will benefit you all in your future development.

To the more experienced players. Well, no team can win without experience and pure game smart, so thank you too for contributing to the team and also for encouraging the younger less experienced players throughout the year. Thanks also for putting your hands up to get us over the line when we were looking down the barrel a few times.

Well done guys and good luck for winter season and beyond.

The Acers will be back - one day!!

Mike

Good Morning Everyone,

Just a quick update on our team.

Please note that our season will commence on Thurs 24th May.

All registration fees will need to be paid to me prior to Sunday 20th May so that I can forward payment to Touch Victoria to confirm our placement.

If I do not have full payment from everyone by this date please note that the team will be withdrawn.

We will again be having a run this Sunday afternoon at 3pm at Albert park so it would be nice to see our players that as of yet have not appeared.

Again, if you are not intending to play in the team this season please respond with your intentions.

Kind Regards,

Michael

Hi Everyone,

We had our first hit out yesterday afternoon at Albert Park.

In what proved to be a trying afternoon following being ejected from Fawkner Park due to the drought, the 5 people who attended worked through some basic principles of touch footy.

All in all we had an enjoyable and valuable session which lasted for well over an hour.

Thank you to Arnold, Tony, Rachael and Genevieve for attending.

A special thank you and a very well done to both girls considering they had never played touch football before. Their patience, persistence and application was fantastic. Thanks girls and well done. You both will go a long way to contributing to a successful team this coming season.

After our training session we joined the season hardened touch footy folk at Albert park for a social game and to test our skills.

Moving forward, we will be having a session each Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Albert Park (opposite the pit lane buildings) for our team followed by a few games against the locals. So all makes well for us to be in readiness for the season proper.

Thank you also to those who did let me know that they could not attend yesterday.

I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday at 2pm, and please don't forget that our registration fees are now due.

Regards,

Michael

Fees

The season fee is $1125 with an early bird payment of $975 if paid in full by 25 May 2007. Teams continuing from the summer 2006-07 season will be eligible for a further discounted early bird payment of $930, this is to compensate these teams for the shortened summer season. Any team that does not pay in full by Friday 25 May 2007 will be required to pay the full fee of $1125.

Single players

In the past we have advised players without a team to either place their name on a list that is used when teams ask us for help in finding extra players, or to go down to the fields and ask around for a team. This season we are encouraging any player without a team to let us know and we will put teams of single players together. While players should specify their preferred night and grade and whether they want to play mixed, women’s or mens, it is likely that the teams will have a mix of experience.

We have plenty of interest already, so if you are without a team or know of any person who wants to play just ask them to send an email to albertpark@victouch.com.au and we will get the ball rolling by putting players in contact with each other, assisting the teams to appoint a captain/manager, arranging a per player fee structure, and helping out with team shirts.

Registration process – Six steps

1. Notify by email the following information: Team name, contact name, contact mobile number and email address, preferred date and grade of competition. Your details will be sent to Touch Football Australia National Branch for invoicing. NOTE THAT YOUR TEAM HAS NOT YET BEEN PLACED IN A GRADE.

2. You will receive an invoice to your email address. Once you have made a payment (either $250 deposit or in full), notify albertpark@victouch.com.au immediately of the details of your payment.

3. Albert Park Touch will now place your team in your nominated grade and this will be advertised on our website www.albertparktouch.com.au. You will receive an email from us confirming your grade placement and advising the next steps to complete your registration.

4. The next step is to submit your team and player registration form – a spreadsheet that can be found at www.albertparktouch.com.au under ‘Playing Info and Registration’. The information collected in this form is required for insurance purposes, finals eligibility and the generation of weekly sign on sheets. It is imperative that we have contact details for all players and you must lodge your registration sheet by the end of Round 3.

5. Team delegates meetings will be held for each grade 20 minutes before the start of your game in Round 1. Every team must send a representative to this meeting in order to complete the registration process. You will receive email advice of the time of this meeting by Friday 25 May 2007.

6. When Albert Park Touch has received payment in full, a team and player registration sheet, and a representative has attended a team delegates meeting, your registration is complete and your ground controller will supply your free team ball at your next game.

Please see the Link for a summary of the process that will apply at Albert Park Touch from this season onwards. The file includes the competition dates for the winter 2007 and summer 2007-08 seasons
