Importance: High

To all team contacts

Albert Park Touch has received the following advice from Parks Victoria concerning the impact of Stage 3 water restrictions that will come into effect on 1 January 2007.

“Under stage 3 water restrictions Parks Victoria has further reduced capacity to adequately water sports grounds within Albert Park Reserve. This means that Parks Victoria will not permit pre season training or practice matches until further notice. Whilst Parks Victoria acknowledges the importance of preseason training for clubs, it is imperative that the wear and tear on sports grounds is minimised so that they are maintained in the best possible condition for the upcoming 2007 winter season.

Parks Victoria has stopped all casual hire of sporting fields and new events and will be asking anyone without permission to use the fields to move on. Continued unauthorised use of the fields may result in your ground not being available during the winter season. Parks Victoria will be monitoring all use of the fields during this period.

It is very important that you pass this information on to your coaches and members to ensure that they comply with this request. Parks Victoria encourages your club to use alternative fitness training methods during this difficult period (i.e. lake running trail, rowing clubs, the beach, use of MSAC or Albert Park Indoor Sports Halls etc). For more alternative training ideas please refer to the Sport Ed website, www.sported.org.au.

Parks Victoria trusts that you understand the need to comply with restrictions and thanks you for your cooperation during the period that they are in force.”

Touch Victoria and Albert Park Touch would like to reiterate that no out of competition use of the touch fields will be permitted by Parks Victoria, and any disregard of these conditions will most certainly impact the remainder of the current season and highly likely the next. All team contacts should ensure compliance of these conditions by their teams.

ACERSTouch team Birthday Weekend: Sunday 10/12/06

Tyler’s Birthday at Belgian Beer Garden

Sunday afternoon started off as a scorcher (literally) it hit 42 degrees Celsius at around 1pm. Although sitting outside in the Beer Garden was hard going the wide variety of cold boutique beers and fine wine helped, along with the selection of reasonably tasty finger food on offer. The cool change arrived around 4 o’clock and along with it a greater number of people to better enjoy the afternoon.

Here's is a Pic of ACERS team members Arnold, Tyler and Michael. If it looks like I’m taller it’s because Tyler's ducking a little ( … well a lot in her high heels! ) …made for a nicer photo.

Cynthia’s St Kilda House party ..

Well after a feed and several drinks at Tyler’s birthday at Belgian Beer Garden we headed to St Kilda for Cynthia’s birthday. By this stage the weather had cooled down considerably and was a pleasant afternoon/early evening for drinks and snacks.

As there were several pictures taken I’ve posted these as a slideshow. Unfortunately if your corporate Internet blocks these you will have to view them elsewhere.

Enjoy …

Field Change for Tuesday and Thursday Comps

To all team contacts and referees: Tuesday Mens and Thursday Mixed grades

As you will be aware the Albert Park playing fields are continuing to deteriorate due to water restrictions and the lack of rain. Parks Victoria has been monitoring the situation closely together with Touch Victoria and a decision has now been taken to make use of fields 18 and 19 to the north of the current fields. The new fields are familiar to many teams as our ‘winter’ fields, and car parking remains on Aughtie Drive but just to the north of the Pit Lane buildings.

All grades on Tuesday and Thursday night will move to these fields as from this week until further notice. Monday and Wednesday competitions will remain unchanged. Field placements will be posted on a board outside the RSL building, and the ground administrators and referees will also be able to direct you to your field.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Any questions, please call or send me an email.

Are You Eligible to play in the Finals?

Bottom Line is : By round 12 a player needs to have signed-on and played in at least 4 or more games to be eligible to play in the Finals.

See below email from AlbertParkTouch for more details and a listing of the current registered games played for each ACERS player as at Round 8.

Note: even if you arrive late you should still sign-on

Subject: finals eligibility - ACERs

There are now four rounds left to play in the summer season – Round 9 next week and Rounds 10-12 starting from the week beginning 15 January 2007. Teams are starting to think about finals eligibility for their players, should they finish in the top four.

Players that have played and signed on for less than four games will not be permitted to play in the finals, and we would like to get all team lists finalised before the end of this year to minimize any disputes at the end of the round games. As your team currently has 17 players listed, if they all meet the eligibility criteria at the end of the season you will need to nominate the 16 players that will participate in the finals series, as this is the maximum number of players per team allowed.

A copy of your team’s sign on sheet for round 9 follows, showing the number of games signed on/played by your players to date. If you have any queries about number of games played or players registered, please let me know with full details (updated team registration sheet, dates played, etc) and I will check our records and update any new players etc. Players must have signed on their team sheet in order to be recorded as having played a game.

Pip

Round 8

Congratulations everyone on another win - 13 - 5 !!

It was great to see how we are developing our skills individually and as a team.

There was very little drop ball and some great handling skills.

Our ball movement to the wings was also very impressive with a fair few of our tries resulting from backline movements.

A great effort all round.

About the only area we can improve from last night would be our defence.

We were still fairly quite on the field and suffered a few lapses as a result. If we can work on talking it up and working in groups of 2 or three in defence we will improve markedly.

Next week we have a 9pm game vs Mags Team.

This team is currently sitting in 3rd place on the ladder with the best defensive record in the group so it will be a competitive game.

Can I please ask for those who have committed to playing out the rest of the season to please make a concerted effort to attend next week as we will definitely need all hands on deck in order to be competitive.

I understand that Troy will not be available.

There are now only 4 rounds left until the finals so we need to start ramping it up to be at our best.

See you all next week !!

VOTES PLEASE !!

Michael
